Dirk Kuyt Reflects on Europa League Draw for Feyenoord

Feyenoord have made a strong start to the Dutch campaign and are top of the table after three games, but they will also have one eye on the upcoming Europa League games since it offers them a great chance to qualify for the Champions League next season.

There is already a case of many reunions in the Europa League draw that was made on Thursday. Feyenoord will be up against Manchester United, Fenerbahce, and Zorya in the group stages of the competition. As a result, striker Dirk Kuyt will be coming up against two of his old foes.

Dirk Kuyt knows all about playing against United from his time at Liverpool even though the club has changed a lot in the last few years. Visiting Old Trafford will feel like a special occasion for the striker, who spent six seasons at Liverpool. The game against Fenerbahce will be even more special since it represents returning to the club where he spent three years before joining Feyenoord in the summer of 2015.Dirk Kuyt recently extended his contract by one more year and his experience may prove invaluable to the Dutch outfit. Kuyt says that he is already excited about the prospect of coming up against the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba when his team take on United.

"I think it's very special to play against Fenerbahce and return to Istanbul. We play against Robin van Persie, Dick Advocaat and Mario Been (assistant coach, ed.) Makes it all even more special. In addition Fenerbahce just has a very good team. Manchester United is simply world, especially now that they have met Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho is the coach," said the striker after the draw was made. The first match will be at home against United.
