Dirk Kuythas not played in the Dutch league since the 2006

Former Dutch international Dirk Kuythas not played in the Dutch league since the 2006 campaign. He joined Liverpool soon after the conclusion of the season.

Prior to this move to the Premier League, Dirk Kuyt was held in high regard that his former club Feyenoord. The 34-year-old has now revealed that he will be rejoining Feyenoord once his contract with Fenerbahce comes to an end.Kuyt has been playing in the Turkish league since 2012 after bringing his long spell with Liverpool to an end. The striker has been a firm fan favourite wherever he has been and this is the case with his spell in Turkish football.

Yet, the chance to join Feyenoord once again has proved irresistible for the player. It is expected that he will retire in the next couple of years, but a swansong in front of his own supporters was irresistible.Kuyt has revealed that there was a potential option to join Feyenoord just when his Liverpool career came to an end, but he chose to extend his time away from Dutch football for a bit longer. Since joining Fenerbahce, he has lifted three major titles including theSüperLig last season. The club are top of the league table once again this campaign.

“I’m coming home after the summer and I can’t wait to play again in De Kuip. Feyenoord have always been a draw. We talked about a return when I left Liverpool but it didn’t happen,” said the striker. Since his move to Liverpool, though,Kuyt became known for his selfless attitude and incredible work rate. This often resulted in managers using him in a wide midfield position so as to stop the opposition from playing. He is one of the favourite players of current Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal.
