Southampton start new Season at a New High

Southampton is enjoying going through a superb start of the season and after 12 matches they are located in 2nd place having collected a total of 26 points as the team of Ronald Koeman is surprisingly ahead of Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool in the Premier League standings.

Things will start getting much more difficult for Southampton in their final match of the month of November as they have to face off with Manchester City and in December Southampton has league matches scheduled to be played against Arsenal and Manchester United. These games will be the toughest ones for Ronald Koeman and his team before 2015 kicks in.

With the January transfer window approaching, Koeman is starting to search around for possible signings that could arrive to Southampton without having to break the bank and one of these potential players is Dirk Kuyt.

Dirk Kuyt is a 34 years old Dutch winger that already has experience playing in the Premier League as he was a former player of Liverpool and is a consistent performer for his current club Fenerbahce.

Kuyt’s contract with Fenerbahce expires at the end of the current season but the Turkish club is rumored to be preparing a one year contract extension for the Dutch player, however if a tempting offer from Southampton is launched then they could lure him away from the Turkish club.

Southampton could be facing competition from the Premier League side West Ham United in January as the English club is also believed to be interested in signing Dirk Kuyt from Fenerbahce.

Even at his age Kuyt was a pivotal player for Holland during the 2014 World Cup as he was turned into the vice-captain and displayed a number of impressive performances throughout the worldwide tournament. Kuyt is one of the few players from Holland that has managed to make 100 caps for their nation and his impact in the team is even being felt by Johan Cruyff as the former Barcelona star praised Dirk Kuyt.

‘’With Kuyt, you can, at a tactical level, go in all directions. When you have someone like him walking around, you are blessed’’ Johan Cruyff stated to the media as the Dutchmen praised Kuyt after the conclusion of the 2014 World Cup
